The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the RBI Attendant exam notification. The RBI Office Attendant notification invites applications from eligible candidates for the Office Attendant post in various Bank offices. The RBI Office Attendant exam is an excellent opportunity for candidates who wish to work in the banking sector. However, before applying for the exam, candidates must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the RBI. The candidate must be a citizen of India. Candidates belonging to Nepal or Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962, and individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle permanently in India are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Age Limit

The candidate must be between 18 and 25 as of 1st February 2023. Candidates born before 2nd February 1998 and after 1st February 2005 are not eligible to apply for the exam. However, age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to specific categories. The relaxation is as follows:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 3 years (in addition to the actual service period)
  • Widows/divorced women/ women judicially separated who are not re-married: Up to the age of 35 years (for general category candidates), 38 years (for OBC candidates), and 40 years (for SC/ST candidates)

Educational Qualifications

The candidate must have passed a recognized board’s 10th Standard (S.S.C./Matriculation). Candidates who have passed the 10th standard on the first attempt will be considered eligible. Candidates who have passed the 10th standard with compartmental marks are not eligible to apply for the exam.

Language Proficiency

The candidate must be proficient in the language(s) of the state(s) for which they apply. The candidate should be able to read, write, and speak the language(s) fluently.

Local Language Criteria

Candidates applying for vacancies in a particular state should be proficient in the local language of that state. The list of states and their corresponding local languages is as follows:

  • Ahmedabad – Gujarati
  • Bengaluru – Kannada
  • Bhopal – Hindi
  • Bhubaneswar – Odia
  • Chandigarh – Punjabi/Hindi
  • Chennai – Tamil
  • Guwahati – Assamese/Bengali/Khasi/Mizo
  • Hyderabad – Telugu
  • Jaipur – Hindi
  • Jammu – Urdu/Hindi/Kashmiri
  • Kanpur & Lucknow – Hindi
  • Kolkata – Bengali
  • Mumbai – Marathi/Konkani
  • Nagpur – Marathi/Hindi
  • New Delhi – Hindi
  • Patna – Hindi/Maithili
  • Thiruvananthapuram – Malayalam

Selection Process

The RBI Office Attendant exam selection process consists of two phases – Online Test and Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The Online Test will be conducted in English and Hindi languages. The LPT will be conducted in the local language(s) of the state(s) for which the candidate has applied.

Physical Fitness

Candidates applying for the RBI Office Attendant Exam 2023 must fulfill certain physical fitness requirements. These requirements include:

  • The candidate should be medically fit to perform the duties of an Office Attendant.
  • The candidate should not have any physical disability that may hinder the performance of their duties.
  • The candidate should possess a minimum height of 165 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates.
  • The candidate should possess a minimum chest measurement of 81 cm (standard) and 85 cm (expansion) for male candidates only.
  • The candidate should possess normal vision and should not be color-blind.
