What the Resume / CV Builder does
The Resume / CV Builder creates a complete resume in your browser. You fill in guided sections, watch a live preview update as you type, and export the result as plain text, HTML, a Word-compatible file, or PDF. Everything runs locally on your device: nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
Sections cover Personal details (name, job title, email, phone, location, website, LinkedIn, portfolio or GitHub, optional photo), Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills with levels, Languages with levels, Certifications, Projects, Interests, and a References note. Job, education, skill, language, certification, and project entries can be added, removed, duplicated, and reordered by drag and drop: grab the grip handle on any entry, or focus it and use the arrow keys.
The Design and sections panel offers fourteen templates (Classic single column, Modern two columns, Minimal compact, Executive centered, Creative color band, Sidebar dark column, Card photo card header, Timeline dated rail for jobs, Horizon bordered formal, Europass European standard, Balanced two equal columns, Right sidebar light column, Blocks high contrast, Banner banner header), five accent colors plus a custom color picker, three fonts, comfortable or compact spacing, A4 or US Letter page size (print follows the same setting), an ATS-safe mode that forces a plain single-column layout with no photo and no icons, and per-section visibility plus drag-to-reorder section ordering. Contact details show small accent-colored icons in the preview and in HTML and Word exports; plain text and ATS-safe output stay icon free. A completeness checklist tracks seven items (name, job title, valid contact, summary length, experience with bullets, education, three skills) with a percentage score and a live word count. Downloads are named after you and this site, for example jordan-lee-resume plus the site name with a .txt, .html, .doc, or .json ending. The resume itself carries no site branding. The print stylesheet uses a zero page margin with padding inside the sheet, so the browser prints only the resume with no date or title header, filling the full page width.
How to use it
- Type your details into the Your details card. Every section starts collapsed in an accordion, so open the ones you need.
- Use Add job, Add education, Add skill, and similar buttons for repeatable entries. Duplicate copies an entry so you can tweak it. Drag entries into order with the grip handle, or focus the handle and press the arrow keys. In Work Experience, write one achievement per line and use Insert sample bullet when you need a starting point to rewrite with your own numbers.
- Pick one of fourteen templates, an accent color or your own custom color, a font, spacing, and page size under Design and sections, then toggle or drag sections into your preferred order. Turn on ATS-safe mode for portals that parse resumes automatically.
- Choose an example (Developer, Recent graduate, Career changer) and press Load to see a filled resume. Press Clear to start over, with Undo clear available if you change your mind. Use Import data / Export data to move your data between browsers. Your draft is also saved in this browser automatically.
- Pick a template and an accent color under Design and sections, then reorder or hide sections from the same panel.
- Copy text, download TXT, HTML, or Word, or press Print / PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog. The PDF holds only the resume, with no browser date or title line, sized to fill the page.
Examples
Recent graduate: enter your name, degree, school, and five skills with levels. The checklist reaches name, title, education, and skills; add a two-sentence summary and one project to raise the score further, then download TXT for portals that ask for plain text.
Mid-level developer: add two jobs at Northwind Traders and Contoso Studio with three dated bullets each, switch to the Modern template with the teal accent, and press Print / PDF to save an A4 copy for an application.
Career changer: choose the Minimal template, hide the photo, and list relevant unpaid work in Interests alongside a short summary that states the target role.
Limits to know
Each repeatable section holds up to 50 entries. Photos must be PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 2 MB and are resized in the browser. Imported JSON files must come from Export data in this tool and stay under 1 MB. The Word download is a Word-compatible .doc file, and PDF output goes through your browser print dialog. Drafts live in this browser local storage only, so exporting JSON is the way to keep a backup.
