A discount calculator finds the sale price after a percent off or a fixed amount off the original price. Type the original price and the discount to see what you pay and how much you save.
How to calculate a percent off
Pick Percent off, enter the original price, then enter the discount percentage. The tool shows the sale price, the amount saved, and the percent off as a share of the original price.
A 20% off $100 discount gives a $80 sale price and $20 saved. The formula line reads $100 - 20% = $80. A markdown of 15% off $60 leaves a $51 sale price.
How to calculate a fixed amount off
Pick Fixed amount off, enter the original price, then enter the money amount to remove. The tool reports the same sale price, savings, and the equivalent percent off.
A $20 off $100 item sells for $80 and saves $20, which is 20% off. The original price must be greater than 0, because the percent off is the amount divided by the original price.
Discount formula
Use these steps for any price:
- Sale price = original price – discount.
- Percent off = (discount / original price) * 100.
- Amount saved = original price – sale price.
What the result shows
- Sale price
- The price you pay after the discount, shown in the selected currency.
- Amount saved
- The money taken off the original price.
- Percent off
- The discount as a share of the original price.
The formula line repeats the math so you can check it, for example $1,299.99 - 10% = $1,169.99.
Limits and edge cases
- Percent off must be between 0 and 100. A value outside that range shows an error.
- The amount off cannot be larger than the original price.
- Prices and discounts use numbers only; commas and decimals such as 1,299.99 are allowed.
- The Copy button copies only the sale price to your clipboard.
