What this auto loan estimate uses

Enter the vehicle price, APR, and number of monthly payments. Down payment and trade-in credit reduce the amount financed. You can also add a sales tax rate and fees; this calculator applies the tax rate to the vehicle price and adds the fees before subtracting those upfront amounts.

How the payment is calculated

For a fixed APR, the monthly payment uses the standard amortizing-loan formula. A zero-interest loan is divided evenly across the selected term. Total interest is the total of the monthly loan payments minus the amount financed.

How to read the result

Total loan payments cover the scheduled installments only. Total purchase cost with interest adds the down payment and trade-in credit to those installments, so it reconciles with the vehicle price, entered tax, fees, and interest under these assumptions. The displayed monthly payment is rounded to cents, while totals use the unrounded formula.

What is not included

This is a planning estimate, not a lender quote. Insurance, maintenance, exchange rates, lender-specific charges, payment timing, and contract terms can change the final cost. Use the same currency for every amount you enter.
