You tap a random direction and two tiles combine into 4, and for one stupid second it feels like you solved the whole thing.
You slide tiles on a 4 by 4 board, merging matching numbers to make bigger numbers until you reach 2048 or the board fills up. The moves are simple, but planning a few turns ahead matters. It feels calm and petty, then suddenly frustrating when a tile spawns in the wrong spot.
Controls
- Arrow keys or WASD to slide tiles.
- Swipe left, right, up, down on mobile.
- Some versions let you click or tap to move if you prefer.
Keep your biggest tile in a corner and try to build decreasing rows next to it, that strategy saves a lot of headaches. Also, don’t be afraid to break the pattern if your board is about to fill, sometimes a sacrifice is the only way to continue.
I keep falling for just one more move sessions, it’s tiny and cruel and I love it.
